Established in 2007, AphroChic is online destination for modern design and cultural style that brings you the best in modern design and cultural style every week.
AphroChic is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Jeanine Hays and Bryan Mason. AphroChic became a place for Jeanine, a former policy attorney, and Bryan, a Ph.D. student, to escape the stresses of work and share their passion for culture and design.
To embody their personal vision of a new kind of design the two coined the phrase, “Modern. Soulful. Style.” – design that embraces culture and the unique admixture of the traditional and the contemporary that helps to define us all.
Since its inception, AphroChic has become the leading content creator in the area of interior design and global decor, and has grown to include a line of culturally-inspired home decor products including wallpaper, pillows, and table linens.
AphroChic has been featured in The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Washington Post, Elle Decor, EBONY, Essence, Lonny, House Beautiful, Better Homes and Gardens, HGTV Magazine, Anthology Magazine, Redbook, Lucky Magazine, and California Home + Design, among others. Jeanine and Bryan have been featured on Good Morning America, NewsOne Now with Roland Martin and Arise Entertainment 360. The company’s pillow collection was on the 2010 California Home + Design Hit List, celebrating the best in California design.
Jeanine and Bryan are leading experts in home decor and global style, regularly producing written content as well as photo and video shoots for About.com, HGTV, Refinery29, Apartment Therapy and AOL. Jeanine has also participated as an online guest judge for the 2010 season of HGTV’s Design Star.
Co-Founders of AphroChic, Jeanine Hays and Bryan Mason, are also the authors of REMIX: Decorating with Culture, Objects and Soul (Potter Style, 2013).
