YiaPa, Functional and Decorative Lighting Design Studio

Brand’s Overview / Information :

YiaPa, based in Brooklyn, NY, is a design studio that develops both functional and decorative lighting.

YiaPa is founded by Yiannis Mytalas, an electrical engineer and Paraskevi Barola, a fine artist. Yiannis and Paraskevi both raised in Chalkida, Greece where they had their studio for 10 years, now live and work in Brooklyn with their two children.

Inspired from nature YiaPa use recycled materials, found objects and a mixture of other mediums to create one of a kind lamps.

Each piece is one of a kind. There are two collections within the studio, the recycled and the mixed media collection.

The recycled collection is made from salvaged wood, electrical and mechanical parts, accessories from a closed textile factory, vintage finds and fabricated pieces, all of which come together to create the lamp.

The mixed media collection is sculptural forms made using plaster, plaster gauze, acrylic hand paint, non-toxic varnish.

Both collections are nature inspired designed to create atmosphere, a mood and evoke emotion.
